2012 CWF Get to Know Contest

Get to Know Your Wild Neighbours!
This year, renowned wildlife artist Robert Bateman invites Canadian youth (19 and younger) to go outside and "get to know" their wild neighbours. In cooperation with the Canadian Wildlife Federation, the Get to Know Contest encourages all young people to develop a deeper appreciation for their neighbours of other species by getting outdoors and creating art, writing, digital photography, videos and music. The goal of the contest is to engage the power of art to help youth feel more connected with nature. It's all about making connections with other environmentally passionate youth, using the creative arts to convey your passion, and having your accomplishments celebrated. Connect…Create …Celebrate!

The theme of the 2012 CWF Get to Know Contest is "Get to Know Your Wild Neighbours" in keeping with Robert Bateman’s belief that caring for our environment begins with knowing the names of our neighbours of wild species. Whether your natural environment is a park in your neighbourhood or acres of boreal forest in a national park, the contest offers youth the opportunity to learn about and celebrate their local biodiversity. Winners will receive all kinds of wild prizes, including cash, an invitation to the week-long Get to Know Art & Nature Camp in Point Pelee National Park (in partnership with Parks Canada), and the chance to have their entry published in the 2013 CWF Get to Know Calendar. The contest is now open and runs until July 16, 2012. To learn more and find out how to enter, visit www.gettoknow.ca.
