These are the official rules and regulations for the Get to Know Contest in the United States. This contest is separate from the Get to Know Contest held in Canada, and different rules apply to each contest.
- Open to all US residents 19 and under (Don’t live in the U.S.? Don’t worry. The Video Category is open to youth in all countries!
- No purchase or payment of any kind is necessary to enter or win this contest
- Entries must be received by no later than 11:59 PM PST on July 16th, 2012
- The theme for this year's contest is "Get to Know Your Wild Neighbours”
- You may enter as many categories as you want!

The Get to Know Program is pleased to announce that a week-long Art & Nature Camp, provided by Parks Canada, will be taking place at Point Pelee National Park in Ontario from August 20-25, 2012. This exciting opportunity is available to any 2012 Get to Know Contest Winner in Canada and the U.S. who has completed Grade 7 to completed Grade 12!
National Wildlife Federation is helping to encourage American youth to get outside, explore nature and share their creativity through the Get to Know Contest. To celebrate the entrants, National Wildlife Federation is offering a variety of incentives for entrants and their parents.
The Get to Know Contest has launched! For the first time, youth across Canada and the United States are invited to get outdoors and celebrate their wild neighbours through art!

To kick off the 2012 CWF Get to Know Contest, ocean rowing team OAR Northwest will be completing a rowing expedition to circumnavigate Vancouver Island!
The Walt Disney Company is pleased to offer a grand prize for each of the five category winners (art, writing, photography, videography, and music) of the 2012 U.S. Get to Know Contest. The top winner in each category will receive a special experience at Disney's Animal Kingdom® for his/her family (up to four total participants). This fun and educational experience will inspire active participation in the protection and preservation of wildlife and wild places by connecting kids to nature! This special offering will be available between July 8 and November 17, 2012, from 9:30am-11:30am. All participants in this experience must be 6 years of age or older.
The Get to Know Contest has been celebrating our wild neighbours for 13 years! Whether your wild neighbour is a small butterfly floating softly past your window or a massive big horned sheep that you encounter on a hike in a National Park, we are happy to celebrate our wild neighbours both big and small.
The 2012 Get to Know Contest will be available, for the first time, to all American youth (19 and under) when it launches on April 7th. To accompany the launch of the Contest, launch events have been planned for select major cities across the country.
The Get to Know Program is extremely excited for this year's Get to Know Contest, launching April 8th! Not only will the Contest be launching for the first time nationally across the United States, but we will also be launching a brand new music category. In addition to being able to submit works of art, writing, photography and video, youth (19 and under) are encouraged to create a piece of music inspired by their time in nature!
