The great outdoors in Prince George’s County is inspirational and beautiful.

Visit an M-NCPPC park in the county – there are hundreds – and release your inner artist. The contest is a great way for youth to connect to the outdoors and to be creative!

Welcome to the 2016 Get to Know Contest Gallery for the Prince George's County Department of Parks and Recreation.

The Get to Know Program and the Prince George’s County Department of Parks and Recreation want you to get outdoors, explore nature and “get to know” your wild neighbors! Visit a M-NCPPC park in the county – there are hundreds – and tap into your creativity. Send us your original artwork, poetry, writing, photography, videos. or music inspired by nature by November 1, 2016 and you could win some wild prizes! Don’t forget to check out our Events Page, and stay tuned for contest launch events, Art in the Park Days, and more.

The Department of Parks and Recreation in Prince George’s County will recognize winners in three categories: elementary school, middle school and high school. Prizes in each category are $300 for 1st place winners, $200 for 2nd place winners and $100 for 3rd place winners. Poetry will be recognized in a separate category with cash prizes of $300 for 1st place, $200 2nd place and $100 3rd place.

In addition to cash prizes, the winners will be included in the 3nd Annual Get to Know Your Wild Neighbor Art Exhibition that will be held in December 2016 at The Leaning Center Galley located at the Sports and Learning Complex in Landover. Get outside and Get to Know Your Wild Neighbor!
