The Get to Know Unconference was an inspiring event that enabled me to share my ideas with like-minded youth, industry professionals, and leading researchers. Being in a room with such passionate individuals really gave me a sense of hope for the future of environmental conservation. Our lives are so closely connected to the health of the environment that it is important for adults and youth to grasp the concept that there needs to be a balance between materialistic improvement and conservation. I hope to see the Get to Know Program grow and continue to encourage youth to connect with nature in the years to come.

The Get-to-Know 2015 International Unconference was such an amazing experience where I got to learn about different environmental issues from so many talented young people across North America. Being a part of the unconference was an eye opener to so many issues that get neglected today. I absolutely loved the art work of each and every presenter, and just how talented and driven everyone was! Being a presenter myself also allowed me to really think about the big questions that we face, and realize how important nature really is to us. The unconference is a must, for everyone. Just being able to hear about the environmental issues from young people is such a remarkable thing!
The Unconference is an amazing event to go to, the presentations are always very memorable and powerful.
Mya was inspired by the recent oil spill in Santa Barbara county in 2015 that affected over 35 miles of beach and ocean as more than 100.000 gallons of crude leaked onto the Stant Barbara Coast.
At the Unconference, I met people who shared my passions. I encountered fellow birders, photographers, and artists who were also youth. I was inspired by as well as encouraged by others to better appreciate and use my own talents. I made connections I otherwise would not have made.
